Cat Cafe Near Tamarindo, Costa Rica

A boutique rescue cat café just 35 minutes north of Tamarindo — coffee, cake, and cuddles with rescued cats in beautiful Guanacaste.

Looking for a unique thing to do near Tamarindo? Skip the same-old surf shop tour and spend an hour with us at Purr Vida Lounge — Guanacaste''s only true cat café and rescue, just a short drive up the coast in Brasilito.

We''re a peaceful, air-conditioned lounge filled with rescued cats who''ve been vetted, vaccinated, and are ready to greet you with a head bump and a purr. Sip a Costa Rican coffee, sample a slice of Miss Meow''s famous cake, and let the cats decide which lap is theirs for the afternoon. Every visit directly funds our rescue, veterinary care, and adoption program.

How to Get to Purr Vida Lounge from Tamarindo

Purr Vida Lounge is located in Brasilito, Guanacaste — about 35 minutes north of Tamarindo by car. The easiest route is to head north on Route 152 toward Huacas, then continue west toward Brasilito and Playa Conchal. Most rideshare and taxi drivers in Tamarindo know the way, and parking is free and easy at our location. If you''re renting a car, the drive is scenic and well-paved the entire way — you''ll pass through the heart of Guanacaste''s sabanero (cowboy) country with views of the Tempisque plains and the Pacific in the distance.

What to Expect

Your Cat Café Experience

Reservations are encouraged but walk-ins are welcome when space allows. Each session is one hour, capped at a small group so the cats stay relaxed and you get genuine quality time. Our resident cats are all rescues — some bottle-raised, some pulled from the streets of Guanacaste, all now living their best lives in our lounge. You can sit on the floor, curl up on a sofa, or claim a comfy chair while the cats come and go as they please.

Our Mission

Every Visit Saves a Cat

Purr Vida Lounge isn''t just a café — we''re a registered rescue. Founded by Miss Meow, we''ve rescued, rehabilitated, and rehomed hundreds of cats across Guanacaste. Your session fee covers food, vet care, vaccinations, sterilizations, and the rent that keeps our lounge running. When you come hang out, you''re literally paying for the next rescue. Many of our visitors leave inspired to adopt — and yes, you can meet our adoptable cats while you''re here.
