Cashmere's Story: The First Cat Miss Meow Ever Adopted!

Not every rescue story has a happy beginning.

Cashmere's started in a cardboard box.

One day, four tiny kittens were found floating in a box near Margaritaville in Playa Flamingo. Thankfully, a group of tourists spotted them before it was too late and carried them back to shore.

At that same moment, one of Purr Vida Lounge's members happened to be on the beach. She immediately contacted Miss Meow.

Early the next morning, Miss Meow rushed to pick up the kittens and brought them straight to our amazing sponsor veterinarian, Cavallini Vet.

The kittens were heartbreakingly small, skinny, dehydrated, and barely hanging on.

One little white girl had severely twisted back legs from birth. She couldn't urinate or have bowel movements on her own. For a week, Miss Meow manually helped her every few hours, hoping she would grow stronger.

Sadly, she never did.

One morning, the tiny kitten waited until Miss Meow woke up, took her into her hands... and peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

It was one of the hardest goodbyes.

Three kittens remained.

Cashmere. Velvet. Tiger.

Little Tiger quickly found his forever family.

Miss Meow decided to bring Cashmere and Velvet home herself, where they could receive extra love and care.

But their journey wasn't over.

Soon, Velvet became sick.

She was diagnosed with FIP (Feline Infectious Peritonitis), a disease that was once considered almost always fatal. At the time, the life-saving medication wasn't available quickly enough.

Velvet lost her battle.

Everyone's hearts were broken.

Then, the unimaginable happened.

Cashmere also developed FIP.

This time, however, there was hope.

The medication that had arrived too late for Velvet was now available for Cashmere.

Miss Meow started treatment immediately.

Day after day...

Week after week...

Cashmere kept fighting.

And he won.

Last month, Cashmere celebrated his first birthday.

Today, he's a big, healthy, hilarious boy with the cutest little vampire tooth that always peeks out when he smiles. He has become one of Miss Meow's most beloved cats and the very first rescue she officially adopted from Purr Vida Lounge.

He's playful, affectionate, and just a little mischievous.

If there were ever a perfect cat for a witch, it would be Cashmere. 🖤🐈‍⬛✨

His story reminds us that rescue isn't always easy. Sometimes we lose them. Sometimes our hearts break.

But sometimes...

Love, determination, and a second chance change everything.
