Sometimes the cats choose us long before we realize it.
Melissa has been part of the Purr Vida Lounge story from the very beginning. In 2024, as Miss Meow was preparing to open Purr Vida Lounge, Melissa helped with three tiny rescue kittens: Stella, Moonshine, and Kiki. They were among the very first kittens to become part of the lounge family and helped shape the rescue mission that continues today.
Years later, Melissa stopped by the lounge hoping to meet a female black kitten. Among all the cats, there was a tiny black kitten named Kuromaru, recently rescued from Playa Grande by Miss Meow. He wasn't what Melissa had planned for at all. He was a boy.
But Kuromaru had other ideas.
The little kitten quietly captured her heart. Melissa left the lounge thinking she would continue her search for the perfect female kitten. Yet no matter where she went, she couldn't stop thinking about Kuromaru.
His tiny face. His curious eyes. His gentle spirit.
Sometimes the universe sends us exactly who we need, not who we expected.
A short time later, Melissa returned to Purr Vida Lounge. The search was over. Kuromaru had already chosen his person.
In a way, it felt like destiny had come full circle. The woman who helped Miss Meow with some of her very first rescue kittens had returned to give another rescued kitten a forever home.
Now this once-abandoned Playa Grande kitten has a life filled with love, safety, and a family that simply couldn't forget him.
